IN MEMORY YET GREEN
I was just looking up something about Isaac Asimov on Wikipedia (the sum of all knowledge), which led me to the page on eidetic, or photographic, memory and this passage:
The existence of extraordinary memory skills is reasonably well-documented, and appears to result from a combination of innate skills, learned tactics, and extraordinary knowledge bases (you can remember more of what you understand than you can of meaningless or unconnected information).
I have an extraordinarily poor memory, and the reason is probably that I have so little understanding of what's going on around me most of the time. Full disclosure: I am drunk
